The new English edition of Buddha-Dharma: Pure and Simple by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, Founding Master of Fo Guang Shan, was officially released by Fo Guang Shan Institute of Humanistic Buddhism (FGSIHB) in late August 2024. Now available as a three-volume box set, this masterpiece provides English readers with a valuable resource to gain a deeper understanding of Buddhism in the 21st century.

The new edition of English Buddha-Dharma: Pure and Simple, comprising 307 chapters, has been reorganized to follow the original Chinese chapter order with four themes, allowing easy navigation between the English translations and their Chinese origin. The four themes are:

(1) Buddhist doctrine: Provides insight into fundamental Buddhist teachings;

(2) Buddhist philosophy and thought: Encourages readers to contemplate the connection between Buddha-Dharma and living, and inspiring them to integrate the Dharma into everyday life;

(3) Buddhist culture and tradition: Takes readers a look into Buddhism’s rich 2500-year history; and

(4) Buddhist endeavors: Illustrates ways practitioners can embody the bodhisattva spirit and participate in Buddhist activities.

Furthermore, this new edition features the English version of Venerable Master’s pre-written will, “An Honest Revelation—An Open Letter,” allowing English readers to experience the Venerable Master's heartfelt dedication to Humanistic Buddhism and all beings.
