Sand-Sifting Waves
Liu Yuxi (772 - 842, Tang Dynasty)
English translation: Miao Guang

Think not that flattery are only deep as waves,
Say not that the exiled are good as sinking sand;
Though the washing and sifting are painstaking,
Once the wild sand blows away, real gold will be revealed.
