愧怍
印光 ( 1862~1940 )
縱人負我德,亦當作我負人德想;
覺自己對一切人皆有愧怍,歉憾
無已,則暴戾之氣,便無由生矣。

With Humility
Yinguang (1862 - 1940)
English translation: John Balcom
Though others do not return the good I do,
I take it as myself not returning the good of others.
I feel shame for not doing enough for all people,
Such that there is nothing to regret.
So that the cruel and despotic
Have no means to arise.
── from Yinguang Dashi Quanji (Complete Works of Master Yinguang)
