《菜根譚》選 ─ 身心閑靜
明 洪應明 ( 生卒年不詳 )
此身常放在閑處,榮辱得失誰能差遣我;
此心常安在靜中,是非利害誰能瞞昧我。

Selections from Tending the Roots of Wisdom - A Tranquil Body and Mind
Hong Yingming (Years unknown, Ming Dynasty)
English translation: John Balcom
If this body is in a constant state of carefreeness, who can
order me around with the temptations of honor and disgrace,
success and failure?
If this mind is in a constant state of tranquility, who can
deceive me with right and wrong, gain and loss?
── from Cai Gen Tan (Tending the Roots of Wisdom)
