沒有歡喜只有憂悲,是不懂得生活;

I Have Joy
Venerable Master Hsing Yun (1927 - , Fo Guang Shan)
English translation: Zhi Yue

In this world, it is not important to have money, fame,
or fortune. What is important is that “I have joy.” What
meaning is there in life if we have everything in this
world but are not joyful?

Joy is sharing and co-owning what we have with others
while not being envious of what others have; this
type of unselfish and altruistic joy is the most valuable
happiness in the world.

Joy brightens the world with color and fills life with
hope. If one lives without joy, with only worry and
sorrow, then one does not know how to live life; it is
natural for life to have both joy and sadness. Moreover,
the ability to be joyful and free from worry is an even
higher cultivation. Allowing life to be filled with joy is
in fact the wisest attitude towards it.
