韋應物詩選 ─ 初發揚子寄元大校書
唐 韋應物 ( 737~792 )
悽悽去親愛,泛泛入煙霧;
歸棹洛陽人,殘鐘廣陵樹。
今朝為此別,何處還相遇;
世事波上舟,沿洄安得住。
──選自《全唐詩》

Setting out on the Yangtze River: For Secretary Mr. Yuan
Wei Yingwu (737 - 792, Tang Dynasty)
English translation: Miao Guang and Zhi Yue
Mournful it is to part from friends and kin,
Drifting as my vessel enters the mist;
With oars set to return for Luoyang,
The bells toll from the trees of Guanglin.
Today, the morning marks our farewell─
When and where shall we meet again?
The affairs of the world like a boat in waves,
Pushed by the current─where is there to stay?
── from Quan Tang Shi (Complete Collection of Tang Poems)
