殘缺也是美
佛光星雲 ( 1927~ )

月亮不一定要圓滿，殘缺也是一種美麗；
人生不一定要擁有，享有也是一種福氣。

擁有財物而不用，和「沒有」並無差別；
擁有金錢不會用，和「無用」無有不同；
一心想要「擁有」，不如提倡「用有」；
「擁有」只是富者；「用有」才是智者。

以捨為有，則不貪；以忙為樂，則不苦；
以勤為富，則不貧；以忍為力，則不懼。

【案】世事無常，諸相皆空。
如果我們有一顆平常心，世間的一切，有也好、無也好，
都看作鏡花水月。有，固然可以生活無憂；無，也可以心
靈自在，深入體會無限、無邊、無量，得也好，失也好，
能得是福氣，失去是結緣。常懷平常心，生活裡自能不
因有無得失而顛倒罣礙。

Imperfection Is Also Beauty
Venerable Master Hsing Yun (1927 - , Fo Guang Shan)

Don’t wish for a full round moon;
    deficiency also has beauty.
Don’t seek possessions;
    pleasure without property is wealth.

Hoarding without use is like not having.
Money you don’t know how to use is worthless.
Better use well what you have than try to own more.
Property is empty possession unless you have wisdom to use it well.

When giving is considered having,
There is no greed.
When business is considered joy,
There is no bitterness.
When diligence is considered wealth,
There is no poverty.
When patience is considered strength,
There is no fear.

NOTE: Everything in this world is impermanent and has the characteristic of
emptiness. With an ordinary mind, it will not matter whether we have something or
nothing, as all matters are as unreal as flowers in a mirror, and moon in the water.
When we have something, we can live without worry. When we have nothing, we can
also live with perfect ease through the experience of limitlessness, boundlessness, and
infiniteness. Be it gain or loss, gain can be a blessing, while loss can also be a way of
forming affinities. By always having an ordinary mind, we will not be troubled by the
gains and losses in life.
