In the Morning, One Sees a Tree Full of Red Flower Blossoms
Longya Judun (835 - 923, Tang Dynasty)
English translation: Zhi Yue
In the morning, one sees a tree full of red flower blossoms;
In the evening, one finds fallen flowers, and a tree once again bare.
Shall these flowers be compared to worldly affairs,
What then becomes obvious is that all are but one and the same.
── from Chanmen Zhu Zhushi Jisong (Verses of the Chan Patriarchs)
