雙好

心好命又好，榮華富貴早！
心好命不好，一生能溫飽。
命好心不好，前程不能保。
心命都不好，窮苦直到老。
說好話，做好事，存好心，
建設人間善美的淨土。

【案】成功失敗，不在於風水，不在於命運，不在於
鬼神，甚至不在於別人的破壞；成功的條件，在於自
身的健全。佛教言：「如是因，必得如是果。」沒有
經過春耕夏耘，如何能有秋收冬藏呢？因此，一個人
之所以成功，必有成功的原因；之所以失敗，也必然
有失敗的理由，成敗之間，操之在我，能不慎乎！

A Good Heart and Good Fortune

A good heart and good fortune
will lead to a lifetime of prosperity.

A malicious heart and good fortune
will turn blessings into omens of bad luck.

A good heart and bad fortune
will turn misfortunes into blessings.

A malicious heart and bad fortune
will bring disaster and poverty.

Speak good words, do good deeds, think good thoughts,
to create beautiful a Pure Land for me and you.

NOTE: Most people relegate success and failure to external causes and
conditions, as if they have no control over what happens to them. They
credit success to good fortune and failure to bad luck. They do not seem
to understand that the key to success or failure lies within each of us.

According to the Buddha's teaching, "Effect is determined by cause
and condition." If we desire a certain result, we must first cultivate the
right causes and conditions. If we wish to have a good harvest, we must
first till the land and sow the seed.

In order to be successful, we must create the right causes and
conditions; without them, success will not come about. Therefore, to
determine success or failure, it is up to us to decide what kind of effort
we are willing to put forth in our endeavors.
