佛寺楹聯 ─ 五觀堂
性定菜根香，
世味淡中常。

三心(1)未了滴水難消，
五觀(2)若存寸金易化。

【註】
(1)三心：
根據《金剛經》，即過去心、現在心、未來心。時間上有過去、
未來、現在之說，但無住真心沒有時間上的過去、、現在、未來
分別，只那一念，吾人的本來面目「自古今而不變，歷萬劫而
長新」，有何過去、現在、未來呢？

(2)五觀：
一、計功多少，量彼來處。二、忖己德行，全缺應供。
三、防心離過，不生瞋愛。四、正事良藥，為療形枯。
五、為成道業，應受此食。

Temple Couplets - Five Contemplations Hall
English translation: Zhi Yue

With meditative calm,
    one tastes the fragrance of vegetables;
Regard the matters of the world
    with an insipid ordinary mind.
With a scattered mind,
    even a drop of water is difficult to digest;
With the Five Contemplations,
    even gold is easily digestible.
