Description:

Ksitigarbha Bids Farewell to the Boy
Jin Qiaojue (696 - 794, Tang Dynasty)

So quiet is this monastery life
    that you miss home;
Bidding farewell to the abode in the clouds,
    you descend Mount Jiuhua.

So fond of making a horse ride
    out of those bamboos,
But reluctant to collect golden sands
    over the golden land.

Fish not for the moon in the ravine
    with that vase in your hand;
Indulge not in the beauty of
    those flowers in your teacup.

Just go on ahead,
    needless to shed those tears;
This old monk here
    has the twilight clouds to keep him company.
