人生行路
老舍 ( 1899~1966 )

才華是刀刃，辛苦是磨刀石，再鋒利的刀刃，
若日久不磨，也會生銹。

謙虛使人的心縮小，像一個小石卵，
雖然小，而極結實。結實才能誠實。

驕傲自滿是我們的一座可怕陷阱，
而且，這個陷阱是我們自己親手挖掘的。

生活是一種律動，須有光有影，有左有右，
有晴有雨，趣味就在這變而不猛的曲折裡，
微微暗些，再明起來，則暗得有趣，而明乃更明。

The Path of Life
Lao She (1899 - 1966)

Talent is like a knife that has work cut out for the
whetstone. No matter how sharp the blade, it will
eventually rust without constant sharpening.

Humbleness makes the mind smaller. Just like a
pebble stone which, though small, is tough. Only
toughness makes one genuine.

Arrogance and complacency is a horrible trap. What’s
worse, this trap was dug with our own hands.

Life is a movement that happens in light and shadow,
across directions of left and right, and under sunshine
and rain. The fun lies in that within these ever─changing
twists and turns, the gradually dimming path will then
brighten up again; the dimness makes life interesting,
while the light brightens everything up.
