心中無一事

水清澄澄瑩，徹底自然見；
心中無一事，萬境不能轉。
心既不妄起，永劫無改變；
若能如是知，是知無背面。

Not a Single Thing in Mind
Hanshan (Years unknown, Tang Dynasty)
English translation: Miao Guang and You Zai

So clear and translucent is the water,
    that its bottom is clearly seen.
When there is not a single thing in mind,
    no circumstances could make it turn.
Since the mind does not give rise to delusion,
    it remains unchanged through eternal kalpas.
If such could be understood,
    understanding would not show any other side.
