菩提正因
北涼 曇無讖 譯 ( 385~433 )

我身若被截斫分離，不應生瞋；
應當深觀往業因緣，當修慈悲憐愍一切。
如是小事不能忍者，我當云何能調眾生？
忍辱即是菩提正因，阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
即是忍辱果。
我若不種如是種子，云何獲得如是正果？

Main Cause of Awakening in the Bodhi Mind

Even if my body were hacked to pieces, I still should not
become angry; I should contemplate deeply the causes of
this karma and practice compassion and kindness toward all
beings. If I am unable to be patient in little things, how will
I be able to do the great work of helping all sentient beings?
Patience under insult is the main cause of awakening in the
bodhi mind. Anuttarasamyaksambodhi* is the result of being
patient under insult. If I do not plant those seeds, then how can
I expect to attain those results?
