善解人間
佛光星雲 ( 1927~ )

一切好事，從我本身做起；
一切好言，從我口中說出；
一切善心，從我內心開發；
一切善人，從我至誠禮敬。

重複的舉止，會變成習慣；
定型的習慣，會變成個性；
個性的所向，會決定命運；
命運的好壞，會決定一生。

美色的後面有危險的深淵，
金錢的後面有虎狼的魔爪；
毒品的後面有毀滅的陷阱，
懈怠的後面有失敗的人生。

有出息的人，
能將不好的事物轉化為自我奮發的動能；
有作為的人，
能將刺耳的語言轉化成慈悲喜捨的音樂。

Understanding the World

Take initiative in doing good deeds.
Take initiative in speaking good words.
Take initiative in thinking good thoughts.
Take initiative in respecting all good people.

Repeated action becomes habit.
Habit becomes character.
Character becomes fate.
Fate rules your life.

There's a dangerous abyss in the lure of a beauty.
There are demon’s claws that ensnare you with gold.
There's a vicious trap in a life of drugs.
There's moral rot in the life of idleness.

A gifted person gains energy from adversity.
A gifted person turns harsh words
into the music of compassion,
loving-kindness, joyfulness, and equanimity.
