你對我無禮,我對你恭敬;

多一分苦難,便多一分堅忍;

不明理的人,永遠得不到快樂;

不肯結緣,人生會越來越貧窮;

心中只有自己的人,不會快樂;

The Treasure of Getting Along with Others
Venerable Master Hsing Yun (1927 - , Fo Guang Shan)
English translation: Zhi Yue

Speak a mouthful of good words,
Do a handful of good deeds,
Show a face full of smiles,
Have a heart full of happiness.

Even if others are rude towards us,
    We shall be respectful in return.
Even if others are conceited towards us,
    We shall be humble in return.
Just as the proverb goes, “Soft and fair goes far.”

The experiences of difficulties and loss
are like a whetstone that sharpens the blade;
Each difficulty brings determination,
Each loss brings perseverance.

An unreasonable person
    will never find happiness.
A person who forgets where he comes from
    will never find friendship.

Unwillingness to create affinities with others
    leads to poverty.
Willingness to develop good affinities with others
    leads to prosperity.

A person who thinks only of himself will not be happy.
A person who sees nothing but gains will eventually fail.
