知足歌
清 錢德蒼 ( 生卒年不詳 )
思量事累苦,閒著便是福;
思量飢寒苦,飽暖便是福;
思量疾厄苦,無病便是福;
思量患難苦,平安便是福;
思量監禁苦,安居便是福;
思量死來苦,活著便是福。

Song of Contentment
Qian Decang (Years unknown, Qing Dynasty)
English translation: Miao Guang
Contemplating the suffering of arduous matters,
It is a blessing just to be free.
Contemplating the suffering of hunger,
It is a blessing just to be warm.
Contemplating the suffering of illness,
It is a blessing just to be well.
Contemplating the suffering of adversity,
It is a blessing just to be safe.
Contemplating the suffering of imprisonment,
It is a blessing just to live in ease.
Contemplating the suffering of death,
It was a blessing just to be alive.
