和寒山詩
明 楚石梵琦 ( 1296~1370 )

舌是興亡本,心為福禍根;
萬般皆自造,誰謂屬乾坤。

種福如種木,種德如種穀;
所積既已多,所須無不足。

──選自《蓮修必讀》

Poem of Hanshan
Chushi Fanqi (1296 - 1370, Ming Dynasty)
English translation: You Zai

Speech is the principal cause of our rise and fall,
Mind is the fundamental root of fortunes and calamities.

Everything is caused by oneself,
who is to hold heaven and earth responsible?

Cultivating merits is like planting trees,
cultivating virtues is like planting grains;

Since what we have accumulated is already plenty,
nothing we need will be insufficient.
